On one occasion, Saint Gertrude had a vision. It seemed to her that she was seeing, the open heart of Christ as if it were a honeycomb that trickled profuse amounts of honey. In addition, mysteriously, at the feet of Jesus Christ heart, it was opening a deep well. Little by little, the well began to fill with honey and, just when it was brimming, the hand of Christ blessed it, as if it were a baptismal font inviting Gertrude to submerge in it. The well was Gertrude’s heart, dark by the contemplation of her own weakness and misery, but flooded by the soft sweetness of the Holy Spirit. It was as well the Church, in which the souls of the Christians find their delight, submerging themselves in its mystery through the baptismal waters. It was too the cloister, baptismal font to which the monks return constantly for the compunction and the tears. Thus, our holy mountain likewise, would not be but a sinister well, if the sweetness of the Holy Spirit of God, emanating from the open heart of Christ, would not be showering in it, overflowing it with its grace and transforming it in to the school of the divine service. Speaking the truth, a Master says, «Son, if you want to be like the angels, you can quickly achieve it. How? They live in continuous service». Hence, a monastery must establish itself, as Saint Benedict teaches, to be a school of the service that likens us to the angels. With reason, a Master proclaims, «Get out of yourself and God will inhabit you! Give death to your self and God will live in you! Do nothing, and God’s determination will befall you! » This website wants to be a door to the cloister, to the school of the divine service, a gate to the heart of our monarchal church.
